Come hear about two local Living Building projects happening in the Vancouver region. Practitioners will discuss the challenges faced in bringing these projects to reality, and what lessons planners can draw from the Living Building Challenge.
The Living Building Challenge “defines the most advanced measure of sustainability in the built environment possible today and acts to diminish the gap between current limits and ideal solutions” (International Living Building Institute: http://ilbi.org).
There are now more than sixty projects across North America in the process of pursuing certification under this vigorous performance standard, and interest continues to rise.
This is Part 1 of a two-part PlanTalk series focusing on Green Buildings. Part 2 will expand the discussion to the neighbourhood scale.
